Befriending Your Unique Systems

“The science of feeling safe enough to fall in love with life and take the risks of living.” – Deb Dana

Boost your capacity to think clearly, feel deeply, and connect genuinely by nurturing self-trust in your nervous and sensory system.

What can I expect from this service?

This service is a hybrid offering. A little like therapy, personal coaching, and a reflective workshop rolled into one. It provides a safe space to co-regulate with an informed therapist while you explore, befriend, and build trust within your autonomic nervous & sensory systems.

These approaches can be modified for your unique needs:

  • Introduction to different nervous system teachings, like Polyvagal Theory.
  • Befriending your nervous system, patterns, needs, and regulators
  • Befriending your sensory profile, identifying needs, and accommodations
  • Practicing different vagus nerve exercises & tools to cope and shift
  • Identifying glimmers and the route to accessing interests and joy
  • Integrating what helps you in real-life experiences
  • Support as you implement new tools into your life

What is the length and cost of this service?

This work is a profound short-term experience that encourages participation, observation, and reflection. Out-of-session observation & activities may be offered to deepen your experience.

One session is between an hour to an hour and a half. The service package is between four to six sessions.

This service costs the same as my psychotherapy service. Read more about the rates here and reach out here.

What is the system I am working with?

We will be working to understand and collaborate with the patterns of your autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system controls vital bodily functions through the vagus nerve, a complex communication pathway between the brain and body. When threatened, it activates to protect us and ensure survival. However, sometimes we become conditioned (familiar through repetition) or stuck in a state of stress, threat, or protection.

Signs of being in a defensive state include concerns with breathing, sleep, mental clarity, digestion, bodily functions, concentration, or social interactions.

However, just as our system helps protect us, it can also learn new patterns. With support and awareness, we can become more engaged and adjust our responses, often leading to different experiences.
